More about me

My name is Janet Ford. I am a 42 year old married woman with three grown sons and three grandchildren, a two-year-old granddaughter, a newborn granddaughter and a soon-to-be-born grandson. As I said in an earlier post, I work from home as a freelance writer and editor (don't expect this blog edited to the max, this is for fun!).

My husband and I live in Northern Michigan where we must travel almost an hour to the nearest town to shop and, even then, only one store doubles coupons up to 50 cents (Shop and Save). We have a Meijer, Walmart, Walgreens and Save A Lot, which I plan to utilize for this adventure in couponing.

We raise redbone coonhounds and Maine coon cats.

We also have eight horses (adopted from Horse North Rescue) and two steers. You may hear about them in future posts as well. Needless to say, I will be VERY excited when I score any type of animal food or care product!

I have also begun spending about an hour per day filling out web forms for freebies. I'll share some/all of those with you. Please remember to follow my blog so you don't miss out on any of those goodies. If I'm able to combine coupons with sales to score free stuff, I'll post about how I put those deals together as well. Haven't done it yet. Hope to share my learning experience as we go along.

Why I want to coupon

I wanted to take the time to blog about my experiences in extreme couponing, After watching the new reality show, Extreme Couponing, I had an overwhelming urge to try it for myself. I think some of the folks on that show need some type of intervention for their hoarding. Hoarding is characterized by excessive emotional attachments to collections. This is not what attracted me by any means. But in this economy, I would love to be able to help out my children who are trying to raise families of their own in this down economy. Not that we don't also have a strong need to save money. My husband, John, works 7 days a week and I work an incredible amount of hours from home as a freelance writer and editor. I plan to re-dedicate some of those hours to couponing to see if I can help relieve some of this financial stress.
